Princeton, IN – A brief tornado struck central Gibson County, Indiana, on Thursday, April 10, 2025, leaving a trail of damage in its wake. The tornado, rated EF1 on the Enhanced Fujita scale, touched down near the Princeton Community High School around 3:49 p.m. CDT and traveled southeast, lasting only a few minutes.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Paducah, the tornado’s estimated peak winds reached 105 mph, and its path spanned 1.18 miles. The strongest winds were observed within a 125-yard-wide corridor. No fatalities or injuries were reported.
Significant damage occurred along the tornado’s path, especially near the high school. Several homes experienced roof damage, while numerous trees were uprooted, knocking down power lines. An outbuilding in the area sustained severe structural damage, including collapsed walls and a broken wooden electrical pole. The storm ended near the intersection of E State St.
As of now, the event is under preliminary review, with further information expected once the NWS completes its storm data assessment.
