Annandale, VA – A significant temperature shift is on the way for Northern Virginia this week, bringing chilly days and frosty nights by midweek.
The National Weather Service predicts mild conditions early in the week, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 69 on Monday and Tuesday. However, a cold front moving through Tuesday night will bring rain showers and signal the start of a sharp temperature drop. Residents should prepare for an 80% chance of showers overnight into Wednesday morning, with lows in the mid-40s.
By Thursday, daytime highs will only reach the low 50s, with nighttime temperatures dipping close to freezing in the mid-30s. Breezy conditions are expected to make temperatures feel even colder, particularly during the morning and evening hours. Northern Virginia residents are advised to bundle up, prepare for frost on vehicles, and limit outdoor activities during the chilliest periods.
Looking ahead, the cool weather pattern will persist through Friday and into the weekend. Highs will stay in the low 50s, and lows will remain near freezing, making it a crisp end to the week.
