Portland, OR – Heavy rain is expected across northwest Oregon and southwest Washington this weekend as an atmospheric river brings significant moisture to the Pacific Northwest. The heaviest rainfall amounts, between 4 and 5 inches, are forecast for the Oregon Coast Range and Willapa Hills.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Portland, the storm is expected to begin early Saturday morning and last through early Monday. There is currently a 10-15% chance of minor flooding along coastal rivers, though interior valleys are not expected to see major flooding. Low-lying areas could experience ponding of water, leading to localized travel issues.

Residents should prepare for hazardous road conditions and potential flooding in flood-prone areas. The NWS recommends staying updated on the latest forecasts at weather.gov/portland.
