Portage, IN – A domestic disturbance escalated into a tragic murder-suicide Friday evening, leaving two dead and one seriously injured. Police responded around 7:41 p.m. to a residence in the 6300 block of Monument Avenue after receiving a 911 call reporting an intoxicated man throwing items and threatening violence.
According to the Portage Police Department, officers arrived to the sound of gunfire inside the home. Upon entry, they discovered Charles Manville, 45, deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and Brandy Manville, 46, dead from apparent gunshot injuries. A 21-year-old woman, who remains unidentified, was found alive with critical injuries and was airlifted to a trauma center.
Investigators believe the incident was isolated, with no further threat to the community.
Counseling services will be available Monday for Portage High School students and staff, where Brandy Manville worked as an administrative assistant.
