Pittsburgh, PA — The National Weather Service has issued heat advisories for Pittsburgh, Western Pennsylvania, and Eastern Ohio as a dangerous heatwave is expected to hit the region through Wednesday. Temperatures may approach or exceed 100°F, putting many at risk of heat-related illnesses.

According to the US National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, the heatwave is forecasted to peak mid-week, with “major” heat risks identified for much of the region. Areas in red on the heat map, including Pittsburgh, Wheeling, and Youngstown, will be especially vulnerable.

Officials are urging residents to take precautions such as staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat, and ensuring access to air conditioning. Vulnerable populations, particularly the elderly and those with health conditions, are advised to stay indoors as much as possible.
