Pike County Woman Shot and Killed by Deputy During Knife Incident in Glenwood

Glenwood, Ark. – An investigation is underway following the fatal shooting of a Pike County woman by a sheriff’s deputy.

Around 9:28 a.m. Thursday, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a woman with a knife on Highway 84 West near Glenwood. The woman, identified as 40-year-old Jennifer Provence, allegedly refused to comply with commands to drop the knife. A deputy on the scene fired his service weapon, striking Provence. She succumbed to her injuries before emergency personnel could intervene.

The Arkansas State Police’s Criminal Investigation Division has taken over the case.
