Phoenix, Arizona – Dangerously hot weather will grip much of central Arizona through at least 8 p.m. Friday, with temperatures in the Phoenix metro expected to peak between 108°F and 118°F. The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for the entire region, including Mesa, Glendale, Scottsdale, and Goodyear, citing a high risk of heat-related illness and urging residents to take immediate precautions.

According to the NWS Phoenix office, the heat risk is especially high for outdoor workers, seniors, and those without reliable access to air conditioning. Peak heat will build Tuesday through Thursday, with Wednesday’s forecast high hitting 116°F in Phoenix, while nighttime lows remain dangerously warm in the upper 80s to low 90s.

Maricopa County residents can call 2-1-1 to find nearby cooling centers offering water, transportation, and relief from the heat. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) advises frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned spaces and urges everyone to watch for signs of heat exhaustion and stroke.

Avoid outdoor activity from late morning through early evening. Lightweight clothing and water consumption are critical during this period.
