Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Spring storms are set to make a comeback across Pennsylvania this week, with Philadelphia residents facing a wet and stormy stretch by Thursday night. Motorists on I-95 and nearby roads could encounter slowdowns and hazardous driving as showers and possible thunderstorms roll in, raising the risk for minor flooding through Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday will bring mostly sunny skies and a high near 80°F before conditions shift rapidly. A chance of thunderstorms and showers is expected to develop late Thursday, beginning after sunset, with a 40% chance of rain. Rainfall could become heavier Friday, with showers and isolated thunderstorms likely through 8 p.m., and a 60% chance of precipitation.

Residents in Philadelphia, West Norriton, and Gloucester City should prepare now by checking flashlights, clearing storm drains, and planning for slower Friday commutes. If thunderstorms materialize, localized flooding along major routes like I-76 and U.S. Route 1 could cause brief delays. Outdoor activities Thursday night and Friday may need rescheduling.

Thursday’s high will sit near 77°F under partly sunny skies. Friday’s high will reach 85°F before showers cool things down into the upper 50s by Friday night.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday brings a slight chance of afternoon showers and a high around 70°F. Sunshine returns by Sunday with a cooler spring feel, highs near 69°F, and clearer skies persisting into Monday with temperatures climbing back to 75°F.

Another weather alert may be issued if thunderstorm risks increase later this week.
