Mount Holly, N.J. – Coastal areas of New Jersey and Delaware could see minor flooding Thursday evening as easterly winds push water inland, coinciding with rounds of heavy rain and scattered storms expected through tonight.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect for low-lying shoreline areas including Atlantic City, Seaside Heights, and Cape May through Thursday evening. A Heat Advisory also continues for parts of the Delmarva Peninsula, with heat indices ranging from 95° to 107° across areas like Dover, Wilmington, and Easton. Meanwhile, storms this afternoon may bring flash flooding and wind gusts topping 40 mph to cities including Philadelphia, Trenton, and Vineland.

Localized street flooding is possible in poorly drained urban areas. Motorists are urged to avoid flooded roads, while residents near tidal backbays and inlets should prepare for minor inundation during high tide cycles. The heat may exacerbate power outages if strong winds down trees or lines during storms.

Temperatures are expected to drop sharply Friday behind a backdoor cold front, offering brief relief from the heat.

More advisories may be issued if rainfall rates intensify or winds shift.
