Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Temperatures are dropping quickly tonight, and sensitive plants could be damaged or killed across parts of eastern Pennsylvania and northwest New Jersey before sunrise Monday.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Frost Advisory is in effect from late Sunday night through early Monday morning, with the greatest risk centered on the Lehigh Valley, the Poconos, and northwest New Jersey, including Sussex and Warren counties. Overnight lows are expected to fall to 34–38 degrees, cold enough for frost formation in low-lying and rural areas.
Cities such as Allentown, Easton, Hackettstown, and Mount Pocono are most at risk, while Philadelphia, Trenton, and Wilmington remain slightly warmer but could still see patchy frost in outlying suburbs. Garden plants, early crops, and unprotected vegetation face the highest threat. Drivers should also watch for localized visibility issues in colder valleys where patchy fog may develop.
Residents are urged to cover or bring in sensitive plants, especially those already blooming. Outdoor pets should have warm shelter, and anyone with early-season agriculture should take precautions immediately before temperatures dip overnight.
