Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Snow is moving into the region Sunday morning and is expected to continue through much of the day, with widespread accumulations of 2 to 5 inches forecast within a Winter Weather Advisory, according to the National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly.
In a Sunday morning update, the National Weather Service said precipitation is falling mainly as snow along and north and west of Interstate 95 and the New Jersey Turnpike, while some areas farther south may see rain early before changing to snow later today. Periods of snow are expected to persist for most locations, though occasional lulls in snowfall are possible through the day.
Forecast snowfall maps shared by the agency show 2 to 3 inches across parts of southeastern Pennsylvania, with 3 to 4 inches possible in portions of central New Jersey and 4 to 6 inches in localized areas farther north. Snowfall rates could reach up to one-half inch per hour at times within the advisory area.
Farther south toward southern New Jersey and Delaware, precipitation is expected to be mainly rain through much of the day, transitioning to snow later this afternoon or evening before the system moves offshore tonight. Snow totals in those areas are expected to be lower, generally 1 to 2 inches or less.
The Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through 8 PM Sunday. Drivers are urged to plan for snow-covered roads and reduced visibility, especially during periods of steadier snowfall.
Residents are encouraged to monitor official updates as conditions evolve throughout the day.
