Philadelphia, PA — Bitter cold continues to grip Pennsylvania this week, with a cold weather advisory in effect through noon Wednesday. Temperatures remain in the teens today, but wind chills could drop as low as -10°F.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), conditions are especially hazardous for those outdoors without proper protection. Frostbite and hypothermia are real risks. Residents should limit outdoor activities and dress warmly with layers, gloves, and hats if venturing outside.
Tonight, Philadelphia will see gradual clearing, but temperatures will dip to 9°F. Winds from the northwest, though light, will intensify the cold. On Wednesday, sunny skies return, but the high will only reach 19°F, and wind chills will hover near zero.
The extended forecast offers some relief. Thursday will warm to 28°F with mostly sunny skies, and Friday will see a high near 32°F. Weekend temperatures could approach 40°F, though partly cloudy skies are expected to persist.
Drivers should remain cautious on roadways like I-76, where residual ice could cause issues. Ensure your vehicle is winter-ready and avoid unnecessary travel during the coldest periods.
