Philadelphia, PA – Philadelphia residents should prepare for an unusually warm September, as temperatures are expected to stay above normal. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts a 50-60% chance of above-average temperatures for the region, which could lead to more warm and humid days than usual.

According to the US National Weather Service in Philadelphia/Mount Holly, normal temperatures for late August are in the mid-80s during the day, with lows in the 60s at night. However, this trend is expected to continue into September. Historically, the first half of September in Philadelphia sees high temperatures around 80°F and lows near 60°F. These conditions are likely to persist until mid-month, with some days reaching the upper 80s or even the 90s.

Residents should not expect consistent fall weather until mid-October, as temperatures will only gradually cool. With summer-like conditions expected to linger, the area could still experience significant heat and humidity.

Cooler weather is anticipated by October, but the upcoming weeks will feel more like an extension of summer than the onset of autumn.
