Peotone, IL – A residential fire in Peotone was swiftly contained by the Manhattan Fire Protection District (MFPD) on Wednesday, averting any injuries.
According to the MFPD, units were dispatched at approximately 4:22 PM to a structure fire on the 200 block of West Street. Firefighters arrived within three minutes, reporting moderate smoke and flames from a two-story home. A full still was activated, bringing in additional personnel and equipment.
Fire crews quickly established a water supply and began attacking the fire. Within fifteen minutes, the flames were contained to the kitchen and extinguished. All occupants safely evacuated the building, and no injuries were reported among civilians or firefighters.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by MABAS 19 Investigators. Multiple fire departments, including Beecher, Frankfort, Manteno, Matteson, Wilmington, East Joliet, and Channahon, assisted at the scene and covered additional service calls during the incident.
