Peoria, IL – A 16-year-old male from Peoria has been arrested in connection with a school shooting threat, according to the Peoria Police Department (PPD).

The arrest occurred on Thursday, February 1, 2024, following an investigation by the PPD’s Criminal Investigations Division and information received from Vermillion County Deputies.

According to PPD, the investigation involved two males and a female from Vermillion County, alongside the Peoria juvenile, previously known to detectives from a similar threat last year. On February 1, evidence linked the juvenile to the group from Vermillion County. He was arrested at his residence in Peoria for Felony Disorderly Conduct and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center. District 150 administrators were promptly informed of the situation.

The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged the teen with Making a Terrorist Threat, a Class X Felony, Disorderly Conduct, a Class 4 Felony, and Conspiracy, a Class 1 Felony, as of February 5, 2024.

A petition for the teen to be tried as an adult has been filed due to the severity of the threats. The investigation is ongoing, and the Peoria Police encourage anyone with information on violent crimes to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
