Peoria, IL – Over Labor Day weekend, Peoria experienced a series of violent incidents, including aggravated battery, robbery, and vehicular hijacking. The Peoria Police Department responded to four major incidents between August 31 and September 2.
On Saturday, officers responded to a stabbing report on Green Street. A 57-year-old man was found with a head injury, allegedly struck by a brick. He was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The female suspect remains at large.
Sunday morning saw another aggravated battery, this time involving a firearm. Officers responded to the 1400 block of SW Jefferson Avenue following a Shot Spotter alert. A 30-year-old male victim was found with gunshot wounds and was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The shooter remains unidentified.
Later that day, police responded to a stabbing and robbery on NE Adams Street. The victim, a 48-year-old man, was hospitalized after being stabbed. The suspect fled with the victim’s wallet and remains at large.
In the early hours of Monday, a woman was carjacked at gunpoint on Hamilton Boulevard. The suspects took her vehicle and fled, later abandoning it on Sand Street. Police searched the area but were unable to apprehend the suspects.
All incidents are under active investigation. Peoria police urge anyone with information to come forward.
