Peoria, IL – Teen Arrested for Business Burglary Early Friday Morning

Peoria, IL – A 16-year-old juvenile was arrested early Friday morning in Peoria for allegedly breaking into a local tobacco shop.

According to the Peoria Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of North Sterling Avenue at approximately 2:35 a.m. on April 11, 2025, after receiving a business alarm. Upon arrival, police found that the front door of the Bazaar Tobacco Shop had been broken into.

During the investigation, authorities located a suspect matching the description of the individual seen in surveillance footage. The suspect was apprehended by police in the 3400 block of North Dries Lane, just a short distance from the scene of the burglary.

Upon searching the juvenile, police reportedly recovered stolen items from the business on his person. The 16-year-old was arrested for charges related to Business Burglary and Criminal Damage to Property.

The suspect was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center for further processing.
