Greenville, SC – If you’re finding yourself sneezing more than usual, especially in southern cities, you’re not imagining things. Allergy season has kicked into high gear, and pollen counts are through the roof across the region.
In particular, Jacksonville, FL, has seen one of the highest tree pollen counts in the area, with an alarming 2,231 on March 18, 2025. This “very high” concentration is enough to make even the most seasoned allergy sufferers feel miserable. With moderate grass pollen also making an appearance, it’s no surprise that many Floridians are dealing with itchy eyes, runny noses, and constant sneezing. Thankfully, weed pollen remains nonexistent for now.
Tampa, FL, is also experiencing high tree pollen levels, but it’s not just trees that are making things worse. Mold counts have spiked, which means if you’re allergic to mold, you could feel the impact alongside the trees. For those in Tampa, tree pollen is high, grass pollen is low, and the mold count is something to definitely keep an eye on, with a high concentration reported on April 8, 2025.
But Florida isn’t the only state grappling with high pollen counts. In Greenville, SC, tree pollen is at a moderate concentration with a count of 42, while Marietta, GA, is facing a high concentration of tree pollen with a count of 959, making it another tough day for allergy sufferers. Weeds and grass pollen in both of these cities are relatively low, so at least there’s a small silver lining.
Birmingham, AL, reported moderate tree pollen levels on March 7, 2025, with a count of 72. However, weed and grass pollen levels weren’t counted, so there could be a rise in the coming days.
Charleston, SC, is seeing moderate tree pollen as well, with a count of 43. While grass and mold pollen remain low, those sensitive to trees may still be affected.
With pollen levels continuing to rise across the South, allergy season is shaping up to be a tough one. Allergy sufferers are encouraged to keep tabs on their local pollen counts and take measures like staying indoors during peak pollen hours, keeping windows closed, and using air purifiers to reduce exposure.
So, if you’re living in Florida or nearby states, it’s time to start managing your allergies, as pollen counts continue to surge this spring.
