The Peoria Police Department reported the incident happened at the intersection of Arago and Grinnell streets around 2:21 p.m., where they found the adult male scooter rider down and subsequently pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The initial investigation by the Peoria Police suggests the scooter rider was traveling west on Grinnell, failed to stop at a stop sign, and collided with a northbound vehicle on Arago. The driver of the vehicle, an adult female, was found not injured but faced citations for Suspended Registration, DUI, and Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, along with a Notice to Appear.
