Peoria, IL – A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with a deadly weekend shooting that left one teen dead and another injured at the Lexington Hills Apartments in Peoria, police announced Monday.

According to the Peoria Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of West Oakcrest Drive around 11:25 p.m. Saturday, November 22, following reports of multiple gunshots and possible victims.

When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old male inside an apartment suffering from gunshot wounds to the torso. Despite life-saving efforts, he was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. A second victim, a 21-year-old male, was also located in a nearby apartment with gunshot wounds to the legs. He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Police executed two court-authorized search warrants and recovered evidence at the scene. Detectives, SWAT, and crime scene units responded to the complex as part of the investigation.

On Monday, November 24, detectives interviewed a 17-year-old suspect at the Peoria Police Department. Following the interview, the juvenile was arrested for Aggravated Battery, Home Invasion, and Armed Robbery and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
