Peoria, IL – A man was critically injured in an early morning shooting on Saturday in Peoria. Police responded to a large crowd gathered in a parking lot in the 600 block of South Western Avenue. Officers arrived after hearing gunfire around 5:04 a.m.
According to Peoria Police, ShotSpotter technology alerted officers to seven rounds fired in the area. Police found the victim near Howett Street and Western Avenue. He had multiple gunshot wounds. Officers performed life-saving measures until paramedics arrived.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and remains in critical but stable condition. Authorities have not released any suspect information. The Peoria Police Department is actively investigating the incident.
