Peoria, IL – Police are searching for a suspect following an armed robbery reported Saturday evening at a neighborhood market on Peoria’s north side.

According to the Peoria Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 6:53 p.m. Saturday, January 24, to the 2600 block of NE Adams Street, near Tony’s Market, after receiving reports of an armed robbery in progress.

Police said a male employee told officers that an unknown male suspect allegedly entered the business wearing a mask and armed with a handgun. The suspect reportedly demanded money, and the employee complied. The suspect then fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Officers conducted a search of the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspect, police said. No suspect description beyond the mask and handgun was released as of Sunday morning.
