Peoria Felon Arrested After Police Find Loaded Handgun in Vehicle Search

Peoria, IL – A routine traffic stop early Saturday morning led to the arrest of a felon in Peoria. Officers conducted the stop at around 3:32 a.m. in the 800 block of W. Dr. Martin Luther King Drive. After contacting the vehicle’s three occupants, officers found probable cause to search the vehicle. During the search, police discovered a loaded handgun.

According to the Peoria Police Department, the firearm belonged to 38-year-old Ricky R. Burse, a passenger in the vehicle. Burse was taken into custody without incident and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, and possession of a firearm by a gang member.
