Peoria, IL – Police are investigating the death of an infant found unresponsive in Peoria on Monday evening. Officers responded to the 2400 block of North Peoria around 7:03 p.m. after receiving a report of a deceased baby.
When officers arrived, they found the infant unresponsive and not breathing. The child was pronounced dead at the scene by officials. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of death, which will be announced by the Peoria County Coroner.
According to Peoria Police, their Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Crime Scene Unit (CSU), and patrol officers are actively investigating the incident. The infant’s name and age have not yet been released to the public.
