Corinth, ME – Maine State Police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred Saturday morning in Corinth, resulting in the death of a 41-year-old woman and the arrest of her son.

According to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 8:28 a.m. to a home at 344 Main Street after reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Abigail Thomas of Corinth deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

The Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit North and the Maine State Police Evidence Response Team. Authorities said Thomas was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.

Preliminary findings indicate Thomas was involved in an altercation with her 22-year-old son, Daniel Derosier, who also lived at the residence. Derosier was taken into custody and charged with murder, according to police.

He was transported to the Penobscot County Jail. Corinth Fire and Rescue also assisted at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
