State College, PA – A bitterly cold stretch will give way to a warming trend across central Pennsylvania this weekend as an arctic front exits the region. Highs will rise steadily, climbing from the 20s on Friday into the 40s by Monday.
According to the National Weather Service, Friday will be partly sunny with a high near 27°F, though wind gusts up to 29 mph will make it feel colder. Overnight lows will dip to 15°F. Saturday brings mostly sunny skies with a high near 34°F, followed by partly cloudy conditions at night with temperatures dropping to 21°F.
By Sunday, the warming trend becomes more noticeable. Highs will reach the upper 30s, with mostly sunny skies. Monday will be the warmest day in nearly a week, with temperatures climbing to 43°F. However, chances of precipitation return Monday night into Tuesday, bringing the possibility of rain or snow showers.
Drivers should remain cautious, as slick spots could form overnight due to refreezing. Residents should prepare for the shift in temperatures and take advantage of the improving conditions.
