State College, PA – A wet Sunday in Pennsylvania will give way to a sunny and mild St. Patrick’s Day as spring approaches later this week.
According to the National Weather Service, showers and possible thunderstorms will continue through Sunday, with winds reaching up to 44 mph. Rainfall could total three-quarters of an inch. By Sunday night, scattered showers will taper off, leaving mostly cloudy skies and a low of 40°F.
Monday will bring a welcome change for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. The forecast calls for partly sunny skies with a high of 46°F. Winds will shift from the northwest at 11 mph, with gusts up to 24 mph.
Looking ahead, Tuesday will be sunny and slightly warmer, with a high of 63°F. Wednesday remains mostly sunny, with temperatures reaching 66°F. However, clouds will increase by the evening, bringing a slight chance of showers overnight.
Spring officially begins on Thursday, but showers are expected to return. There is a 60% chance of rain, though temperatures will remain mild, reaching a high near 54°F.
By Friday, the weather clears again, with mostly sunny conditions and a high near 42°F. Another chance of rain arrives Saturday, though temperatures will continue warming into the mid-50s.
Drivers should remain cautious on wet roads Sunday, but conditions will improve for the week ahead.
