Philadelphia, PA – Residents across Pennsylvania should prepare for a significant weather shift beginning tonight, as heavy rain and snow are set to impact the region. Rainfall is expected to begin Wednesday night, transitioning to snow in higher elevations by Thursday evening. Drivers should exercise caution, especially near major roadways like I-95 and in the Poconos, where Winter Storm Watches are in effect.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, widespread rain will bring up to 1.5 inches of precipitation to areas including Philadelphia, Reading, and Allentown. In higher elevations, such as the Poconos, snowfall totals could reach 4–6 inches by Friday morning. Wind gusts up to 30 mph may further complicate travel conditions, reducing visibility and creating slick roads.

Thursday morning will see lingering rain showers across the region with daytime highs around 52 degrees. By Thursday night, colder air will push in, with lows dropping to 37 degrees. Snow is expected to develop in the Poconos late Thursday night into Friday morning. Friday will remain chilly, with highs only reaching the mid-40s under mostly cloudy skies.

Looking ahead, the weekend promises some relief. Saturday will be partly sunny with a high near 52, and Sunday will bring similar conditions with highs in the mid-50s. However, residents should monitor the forecast closely for updates as precipitation could affect localized flooding and road conditions.
