State College, PA – The National Weather Service in State College has issued a Wind Advisory for nearly all of central and southern Pennsylvania, where strong west winds are expected to impact the region from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning.

Forecasters expect sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts between 45 and 55 mph possible across areas including Harrisburg, Altoona, State College, York, Lancaster, Johnstown, and Williamsport.

The strongest winds are forecast late Wednesday afternoon through the overnight hours, especially across the ridges and open valleys of the central mountains.

The NWS warns that gusty winds could knock down tree limbs, damage power lines, and lead to localized power outages. Travel may also be difficult for high-profile vehicles, particularly along Interstates 80, 81, and 76, as well as U.S. Route 322.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and use caution while driving. Winds are expected to gradually subside by late Thursday morning, though breezy conditions may persist throughout the day.
