Cleveland, OH – Lake-effect snow is expected to strengthen across northwest Pennsylvania beginning late this morning, with a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for Crawford and Southern Erie counties through early Monday afternoon. Forecasters warn that persistent snow bands and strong winds may create hazardous travel, especially for the Monday morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, the Winter Weather Advisory runs from 10 a.m. Sunday to 1 p.m. Monday for areas including Meadville, Edinboro, Titusville, Corry, and Union City.
Snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches are expected in the higher terrain of eastern Erie and Crawford counties, with locally higher amounts possible where lake-effect bands linger. Winds will gust up to 40 mph late this morning through this evening, creating areas of blowing snow and brief whiteout conditions.
According to the NWS, snowfall totals and impacts will decrease westward, with the heaviest accumulation expected inland and east of Erie. Roadways may become slick and snow-covered, especially overnight as temperatures fall and snow bands intensify.
The hazardous conditions may slow or disrupt travel early Monday, particularly for commuters using secondary roads and east–west routes exposed to lake-effect winds.
Residents are urged to slow down, use caution, and monitor travel advisories. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Turnpike Commission recommend delaying unnecessary travel and checking 511PA for updated roadway conditions.
