Pittsburgh, PA – Gray skies and damp pavement will define much of this Thanksgiving travel week across western Pennsylvania. A developing storm system moves in Tuesday, bringing heavy rain, gusty winds, and a sharp temperature drop that could tease the season’s first snowflakes by late Thursday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, rain becomes widespread by early Tuesday morning and continues through Wednesday. Some areas could see over an inch of rain, leading to slick travel conditions on I-79, I-376, and Route 22. Wind gusts near 25 mph are also possible as the front strengthens.

Temperatures will peak near 59°F on Wednesday before a strong cold front pushes through, sending readings tumbling into the 30s by Thanksgiving morning. The holiday itself should be mostly dry but breezy, with highs around 36°F — cold enough to bring a “winter tease” feel for morning parades or early football games.

Forecasters note a chance of snow showers Thursday night into Friday, particularly in higher elevations east of the city. It’s a reminder that winter’s doorstep is close — just in time for late-November travel and Black Friday plans.

Five-Day Outlook (Nov. 24–28):
