State College, Pa. – Severe thunderstorms with damaging winds could sweep into central Pennsylvania Tuesday afternoon, threatening road safety and disrupting daily routines.
According to the National Weather Service in State College, storms may begin around 3 p.m. Tuesday, with winds topping 60 mph and locally heavy rain possible. Commuters along Route 322, Route 22, and I-99 should prepare for sudden low visibility and ponding on roads. Patchy fog may add to the hazards early Tuesday morning but will likely clear before storm activity begins.
Wind gusts could down tree limbs and cause scattered power outages. The most intense storms are expected between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tuesday, especially in Centre, Blair, and Mifflin counties. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, monitor alerts, and delay non-essential travel during peak storm hours.
The rest of the week brings a calmer stretch. Wednesday will be sunny and warm with a high of 81°F. Thursday and Friday will trend partly sunny, with highs climbing into the low 80s. Isolated showers and storms could return Friday afternoon and again Saturday, with a 60% chance of rain by the weekend. Sunday cools slightly, with highs in the low 70s and another round of showers possible.
Storms remain possible Tuesday, but the probability of additional widespread hazardous weather is low through Sunday. Stay weather-aware and report any damage to local authorities.
