Pennsylvania – Loose trash cans rattle along Pittsburgh sidewalks this morning as strong March winds begin sweeping across western Pennsylvania. The air feels brisk and unsettled. By late morning, gusts could approach 50 mph, creating travel hazards and scattered power issues across the metro area.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a Wind Advisory remains in effect from 8 a.m. until midnight across western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and northern West Virginia. Sustained southwest winds between 15 and 25 mph will strengthen through the afternoon. Gusts may reach 50 mph, strong enough to snap small branches and blow unsecured objects across roads.

Conditions stay mostly cloudy early with temperatures climbing toward 56 degrees. Brief rain or a rain-snow mix could occur during the morning hours. By afternoon, scattered rain showers become more likely while winds intensify across Allegheny County.

Drivers should remain cautious along I-376, I-79, and the Parkway East, where crosswinds could impact taller vehicles. Bridges over the Ohio, Allegheny, and Monongahela rivers may feel especially gusty.

Saturday turns quieter with sunshine and highs near 49 degrees. The calm break will be brief. Clouds increase again Sunday while temperatures surge toward 69 degrees, signaling a dramatic spring warmup.

Meteorologists now track another developing system for early next week. Rain becomes likely Monday with highs reaching 72 degrees. Gusty winds may return as showers spread across western Pennsylvania.

By Monday night, colder air pushes back into the region. Rain could mix with snow before ending early Tuesday, followed by breezy and colder conditions.

Secure loose outdoor items today and allow extra space between vehicles on windy roads. Strong gusts can arrive suddenly during passing showers.
