Pennsylvania – Water is already pushing toward vulnerable roadways, and conditions will worsen by early Sunday as coastal flooding and steady rain converge across the Philadelphia region.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday, with up to one foot of inundation possible in low-lying areas near tidal waterways. Flooding is expected to begin on the most vulnerable roads along the Delaware River and nearby tributaries.
In Philadelphia, Camden, and Burlington County, water levels will rise during high tide and spill onto flood-prone streets. Portions of Columbus Boulevard, Kelly Drive, and low-lying access roads near I-95 are at risk for temporary closures. Drivers should plan alternate routes and avoid any water-covered roads.
Rain will add to the impact through Sunday, with showers becoming more widespread and steady by midday. Up to a quarter inch of rainfall may fall, leading to slick pavement and reduced visibility on major routes including I-76 and I-95. Allow extra travel time and keep headlights on.
Conditions improve later Sunday as the system exits, but cooler air moves in quickly. Monday brings dry weather and highs in the mid-50s, with early morning temperatures dropping into the mid-30s. That could create isolated slick spots on bridges and untreated roads.
Sunshine returns Tuesday, followed by a noticeable warm-up into midweek with highs reaching the low 70s.
