Baltimore, Md. – mThunderstorms will sweep across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey tomorrow, with some areas potentially seeing more than 2 inches of rain. The heaviest downpours are expected to develop along and ahead of a passing cold front, creating brief but intense rainfall that could slow commutes and outdoor activities.
According to the National Weather Service Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, the region’s recent dry stretch has left streamflows near or below seasonal norms, reducing the risk of river flooding despite the rain. Forecasters say showers and thunderstorms will be scattered through the morning, becoming more widespread in the afternoon, with locally heavy cells possible.
Cities including Philadelphia, Wilmington, Trenton, and Baltimore could see ponding on roads during peak downpours, especially in low-lying or poorly drained spots. Drivers are urged to reduce speed on wet roads and avoid areas with standing water. Outdoor events may face delays or cancellations, particularly during periods of lightning.
Rain will taper from west to east by late Wednesday night, with conditions drying into Thursday. No river flood warnings are in effect, but additional advisories are possible if heavier storms linger.
