Philadelphia, PA – Drivers across eastern Pennsylvania and northern Delaware could face flooded roads and rising creeks by early Saturday as torrential rain pushes through the region overnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Flood Watch is in effect from 7 p.m. Friday through 8 a.m. Saturday for the Philadelphia metro, including Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, and Chester counties, as well as New Castle County in Delaware. Rainfall rates may reach 1 to 2 inches per hour, with totals up to 3 inches possible through Saturday morning.
Areas most at risk include Philadelphia, Allentown, Reading, Wilmington, Norristown, and West Chester, where excessive runoff may flood low-lying streets, creeks, and underpasses. The heaviest downpours are expected between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.
Residents are urged to avoid travel during peak rainfall, especially on flood-prone roads like U.S. Route 30, I-95 near Chester, and portions of PA-611. Power outages are unlikely, but ponding could disrupt early morning commutes.
Warnings remain in effect until Saturday morning, and additional alerts may be issued if flooding develops. Stay updated through local officials and emergency notifications.
