New York, NY – Rain and possible thunderstorms could drench New York City from Friday afternoon through late Saturday, with up to three-quarters of an inch of rain and patchy fog creating hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, showers may begin Friday morning, with heavier rainfall and isolated thunderstorms expected after 1 p.m. and continuing through Saturday night. The highest chance for storms comes Friday night and Saturday afternoon, with an 80% probability and localized wind gusts reaching 13 mph.
Central Park, Midtown, and boroughs across NYC may see temporary street flooding, slippery sidewalks, and reduced visibility, especially near waterways and low-lying areas. Patchy fog Friday morning could further disrupt visibility during early commutes. City events and outdoor plans may be affected, and residents are urged to monitor updates and stay indoors during thunderstorms.
Saturday night may see lingering showers before clearing into a mostly sunny Sunday. Highs will reach the upper 60s over the weekend, with clearer and warmer weather returning early next week.
Weather warnings remain in effect through Saturday evening. Additional updates or advisories may be issued if storm conditions intensify.
