Pittsburgh, PA – A mix of freezing rain and ice will impact Pennsylvania roads Wednesday night into early Thursday, creating hazardous travel conditions. Forecasters warn that temperatures will hover around freezing, leading to ice accumulation on bridges and untreated surfaces.
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 a.m. Thursday for Pittsburgh and surrounding areas, including the I-80 corridor and the Laurel Highlands. Ice accumulation could range from a glaze to one-tenth of an inch, making roads slick and dangerous. Most of the area will warm above freezing by 8 a.m., shifting precipitation to rain.
Thursday will see a high of 54°F with clearing conditions. By Saturday afternoon, another system could bring a mix of rain and snow, with temperatures in the upper 40s. Drivers should monitor forecasts and prepare for changing conditions.
For road updates, check PennDOT 511 or local weather alerts. Residents should use caution on untreated roads and sidewalks, especially during the morning commute.
