Pittsburgh, PA – Light snow and freezing temperatures will grip the Pittsburgh area today and Sunday, raising concerns about slippery roads, especially on I-376 and major routes. Temperatures are expected to hit 34°F this afternoon, marking the first time Pittsburgh surpasses freezing since January 18.

According to the National Weather Service, snow is likely this afternoon, particularly north of the city, with minor accumulation of less than half an inch expected. With ground temperatures remaining cold, even a dusting can create slick spots on roadways. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously, especially on untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses.

Tonight, snow will taper off, but temperatures will drop to 27°F, maintaining icy conditions into Sunday morning. Sunday’s high will be near 32°F with mostly cloudy skies, followed by clear weather overnight and a low of 16°F.

Looking ahead to Monday, sunny skies and a high of 34°F offer some relief, though scattered snow showers will return Monday night and persist through midweek. Tuesday’s high will reach 36°F, with light snow showers predicted, while Wednesday brings a 50% chance of snow and a high near 40°F.

Prepare for variable road conditions throughout the weekend and early next week. Residents should keep an eye on forecasts, limit unnecessary travel during snowy periods, and dress warmly to combat frigid temperatures.
