Pedestrian Killed on Interstate 94; Illinois State Police Arrest Chicago Woman

Chicago, IL – Illinois State Police (ISP) arrested a Chicago woman after a fatal hit-and-run on Interstate 94. Authorities say 47-year-old Ronne L. Watson faces charges of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence Resulting in Death, a Class 2 Felony.

ISP Troop 3 responded to reports of a pedestrian struck on northbound I-94 near 83rd Street at approximately 1:34 a.m. on October 6. The vehicle fled the scene, leaving the pedestrian deceased. Just minutes later, University of Chicago Police located the suspect vehicle near Hyde Park Boulevard and Woodlawn Avenue. Officers stopped the vehicle and identified Watson as the driver. She was subsequently arrested for allegedly driving under the influence.

On October 7, after ISP’s investigation, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved charges against Watson. She is currently in custody at the Riverdale Police Department, awaiting her pretrial hearing. Authorities have not released further details on the victim or the circumstances surrounding the incident.
