Crowley, LA – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Friday in Acadia Parish. The incident occurred shortly after midnight near the intersection of Jasmine Road and Interstate 10 Service Road. The victim, 41-year-old Coby Ortego of Ville Platte, was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling west on Jasmine Road.
According to Louisiana State Police Troop I, the vehicle fled the scene after the collision, leaving Ortego with fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The make, model, and color of the vehicle involved in the crash remain unknown at this time.
Standard toxicology samples have been obtained from Ortego and submitted for analysis. Authorities urge anyone with information about the identity of the driver or the suspect vehicle to contact Troop I at (337) 262-5880 as the investigation continues.
