Nashville, TN – A 60-year-old man was killed Saturday night after being struck by a Volkswagen Tiguan while crossing Charlotte Pike. The accident occurred near 47th Avenue North, outside of a marked crosswalk.
According to Nashville police, the pedestrian was hit by the vehicle while attempting to cross the busy road. The driver of the Volkswagen stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.
Police are working to notify the victim’s family. No charges have been filed as of Sunday, and authorities have not yet determined whether speed or alcohol were factors.
The area where the crash occurred is known for heavy traffic, and pedestrians often cross without using designated crosswalks. Investigators will review available footage and interview witnesses to determine the cause of the crash.
Charlotte Pike was temporarily closed following the incident but has since reopened. Efforts to improve pedestrian safety in the area have been ongoing, but accidents like this remain a concern for local residents.
