Montgomery County, IN – A fatal crash on US 231 near State Road 234 left one person dead and another seriously injured on Sunday evening. The Indiana State Police and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene shortly before 6 p.m.
Trooper Walsh led the preliminary investigation, revealing that a 2006 Freightliner was traveling northbound on US 231. A 2016 Honda CRV entered the Freightliner’s path from State Road 234, resulting in a severe collision. Both vehicles came to rest on the east side of US 231, north of State Road 234.
Emergency responders pronounced the Honda’s passenger dead at the scene. The Montgomery County Coroner withheld their identity, awaiting positive identification and notification of family members. Meanwhile, a medical helicopter transported the Honda’s driver to an Indianapolis hospital. Their condition remains unknown. The Freightliner’s driver was uninjured.
