Park Forest, IL – A head-on collision early Thursday morning left one driver dead and another injured at the intersection of 26th Street and Western Avenue.
Park Forest police and firefighters arrived at the scene around 6:37 a.m., discovering one driver unresponsive. Emergency crews administered life-saving measures, but the individual succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital. The second driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported for treatment.
According to Park Forest Police, an initial investigation revealed the deceased driver’s vehicle drifted into oncoming traffic, causing the collision. Authorities are working with the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (SMART) to determine the exact cause.
