Glen Ellyn, Ill. — The Glen Ellyn Park District, along with the Village of Glen Ellyn and Public Art Workgroup, will officially open Panfish Park. On Thursday, June 12, the community is invited to celebrate the park’s grand opening at 4:00 p.m. The event will celebrate the new playground and unveil a new public art installation, “Enclosure.”
The Village of Glen Ellyn and Glen Ellyn Park District have partnered on this project. The park district will assume responsibilities for maintenance, including transforming the passive space into an event park. The location was formerly a US Bank property.
A preliminary design was created in 2023 and informed by community feedback. The park now includes a playground and updated walking loop around the property.
The art installation, “Enclosure,” was designed by artist David Harber. The original piece was created for the Chelsea Flower Show in London, where it included 26 bronze panels covered in swirling tree and branch shapes. The piece was scaled down to ten panels for the Panfish Park installation.
