Peotone, IL – A group of burglars allegedly used landscaping bricks to smash into several local businesses in Peotone early this morning, prompting an active investigation across Will County.
According to the Peotone Police Department, officers responded around 5 a.m. to an alarm at Peotone Tobacco and Liquor. Within minutes, additional break-ins were reported at the BP Gas Station, Tony’s Pizza, and Game On Bar & Grill. Officers also discovered shattered windows at Gyros Loco and Subway. Later in the morning, it was determined that Archy’s Ice Cream had also been burglarized.
Authorities say at least two separate crews are believed to be responsible. Surveillance footage reportedly shows suspects using landscaping bricks to force entry, primarily targeting cash register drawers. All suspects were allegedly dressed in hooded sweatshirts, gloves, and masks to conceal their identities.
Peotone Police, assisted by officers from Will County and Crete, are now reviewing surveillance video and License Plate Reader (LPR) data in an effort to track the vehicles involved and identify suspects.
