Palos Park, IL – As the cold season approaches, the Palos Park Woman’s Club is spreading warmth through a Children’s Coat Drive, collecting gently used and clean coats in children’s sizes through October 30.
The initiative, supported by the Palos Park Police Department, encourages residents to give back to the community by donating winter coats that can help local children stay warm through the coming months. Donations can be dropped off at several local sites, including the Palos Park Library, Recreation Center, Village Hall, Moraine Valley Fit Rec, and at Palos Park Woman’s Club meetings.
The department also highlighted a Canadian tradition of “scarf bombing” — where residents leave scarves, hats, and coats tied to trees or benches for anyone in need, accompanied by simple messages like, “If you’re cold, take one.” The story serves as a reminder that small acts of kindness can make a profound difference in helping others endure winter’s chill.
Residents are encouraged to participate, share the warmth, and help ensure that every child in the community has a cozy coat this winter.
