Paducah, Kentucky – After days of record-breaking heat, Kentuckians can finally enjoy a much-needed break from the swelter. Highs across the state will hover in the low to mid-80s through the weekend, with overnight lows dropping into the refreshing upper 50s to mid-60s — up to 10 degrees below average for late July.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, skies will clear from the north Friday, giving way to mostly sunny conditions statewide Saturday. But by Sunday afternoon, isolated storms could develop across western counties, particularly in the Pennyrile region, including Hopkinsville, Madisonville, and Princeton.

Most of the state will remain dry, but anyone traveling or working outdoors in western Kentucky should monitor conditions Sunday afternoon. Lightning and brief downpours could interrupt outdoor events, though widespread impacts are not expected. If you’re planning to be out, it’s wise to check radar updates and secure loose outdoor items.

The cooler stretch offers relief following last week’s dangerous heatwave that pushed heat indices above 105°F. No new heat advisories are in place at this time.

Warmer temperatures may return next week, but for now, the weekend offers a rare midsummer reprieve.
