Paducah, KY – Unseasonably warm temperatures are expected to break multiple records across western Kentucky and surrounding areas through Saturday before a strong cold front brings a sharp cooldown late this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, numerous record high temperatures and record warm minimums are likely from Christmas Eve through Saturday. Daytime highs are forecast to reach the 60s and low to mid-70s, while overnight lows remain unusually mild, staying well above normal for late December.

Fog is expected to linger during the early morning hours, with off-and-on drizzle continuing today. Light rain is possible in eastern portions of the region on Christmas Day, though widespread heavy rainfall is not expected.

Warm conditions will persist into Saturday ahead of an approaching cold front. Forecasters note that Saturday may bring continued record warmth before the weather pattern shifts.

A strong cold front is forecast to move through the region Sunday, bringing cloudy and rainy conditions along with steadily falling temperatures throughout the day. Highs on Sunday are expected to range from the mid-50s to mid-60s early, then drop as colder air moves in.

By Monday, temperatures are forecast to fall well below normal, with highs only in the mid-20s to mid-30s, marking a dramatic change from the holiday warmth. The colder pattern is expected to persist into early next week.

This forecast is especially relevant for holiday travelers, commuters, and those with outdoor plans who may experience rapid changes in weather conditions over a short period.

Residents are encouraged to monitor forecast updates, use caution in foggy conditions, and prepare for the abrupt temperature drop following the weekend.
