Pendleton, OR – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for the Eastern Washington and Oregon Cascades, as heavy snowfall and strong winds continue to impact the region. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that up to 12 inches of snow, combined with gusts reaching 65 mph, will create hazardous travel conditions through 4 p.m. Tuesday.
According to the NWS, the advisory affects the upper slopes of the Eastern Washington Cascades Crest, including Roslyn and Easton, as well as the East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades, covering areas such as La Pine, Sisters, Camp Sherman, and Sunriver. Additionally, portions of the South Washington Cascades, including Snoqualmie Pass and White Pass, will see snowfall ranging from 2 to 5 inches.
The combination of heavy snow and strong winds is expected to cause low visibility and dangerous road conditions. The Oregon Department of Transportation urges drivers to use caution, particularly at higher elevations where conditions could deteriorate rapidly. Officials recommend carrying an emergency winter driving kit, including blankets, food, water, and tire chains.
